Free Fishing Days Derbies
Looking for a place to go fishing with your family? Show your kids how much fun fishing is by bringing them to one of our free fishing derbies! Kids should bring their own fishing gear and must be registered by an adult in order to participate and win prizes.
Little Beaver State Park Derby
Celebrate West Virginia’s Free Fishing Days with a youth fishing derby at Little Beaver State Park on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon, with registration open from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. This free event is open to young anglers ages 3-14, who must be registered by an adult to participate and be eligible for prizes.
What to Bring: Fishing gear (rods, reels, tackle)
Bowden Fish Hatchery Derby
Join us Saturday, June 7, 2025, for a fun, free youth fishing derby at the Bowden State Fish Hatchery from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with fishing times scheduled by grade level:
- 8-9 – Preschool and Kindergarten
- 9-10 – First and Second Grade
- 10:30-11:30 – Third–Fifth Grade
- 11:30-1:30 – Sixth–Eighth Grade
